Course Description

This course teaches you the fundamental skills and concepts of HTML and CSS, two of the core technologies of the internet. All websites are built on a foundation of HTML and CSS, so this course is ideal for those looking to get into the coding and maintenance of websites.

Rather than focusing on the front-end design of websites, this course focuses on the technical creation and maintenance of websites in terms of coding. 

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of HTML and CSS
  • Understand the structure of HTML documents
  • Create multimedia presentations using HTML
  • Style websites appropriately using CSS
  • Understand the concepts of accessibility and readability in web design

This course is available to all adults over the age of 18 resident in the Republic of Ireland.

What is the exam like on this course?

The IT Specialist in HTML and CSS (ITS – 301) exam is conducted online and lasts for a total of 50 minutes.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11).

You will require a text or code editor, as well as various different web browser applicatons in order to test your code. These can all be sourced freely and your tutor can provide further information you should need help downloading these.
