Course Description

This online course will teach you the skills needed to confidently configure and manage common wireless and wired network devices. You will learn the fundamentals of basic network design and connectivity; understand and maintain network documentation; identify network limitations and weaknesses, and implement network security, standards and protocols.

This course is ideal for learners who wish to increase their understanding of emerging technologies within the IT sector, such as innovations in unified communications and mobile, cloud and virtualisation technologies.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand OSI Model, Encapsulation & Cloud/Network Types
  • Successfully manage cables, connectors, ports, and protocols
  • Understand IP addressing and subnetting
  • Work within data centres and network service settings
  • Understand cloud concepts
  • Manage network devices

  • Implement best practices in network operations, documentation, and procedures

This course is available to all adults over the age of 18 resident in the Republic of Ireland.

Does the course have prerequisites? 

Prior to registering for this course, it is recommended that you already possess certification in CompTIA A+, or have 9 - 12 months of work experience within the IT industry.

Yes, this course is supported by an online tutor who you will have access to during the course.

What is the exam like on this course?

The CompTIA Network+ N10-008 exam is conducted online and lasts for a total of 90 minutes. The exam comprises a maximum of 90 questions, which are both multiple-choice and performance-based in form. The passing score for the exam is 720 points out of a possible total of 900 points.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11).

Although you can use other operating systems to access the course materials, you must use a Windows based operating system for the exam. Linux based operating systems cannot be used for the exam.

No specific software is required for this course.
