Course Description

This course will allow you to gain a thorough understanding of a wide range of topics related to network management and culminates in a certified accreditation from Cisco. The Cisco certification is an internationally recognised industry-standard qualification for anyone working in a role involving networking.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of networking, including topics such as, routers, switches, cabling, TCP and UDP, IPv4 and IPv6
  • Confidently engage with issues surrounding IP connectivity and IP services
  • Implement best practices with regards to network security
  • Manage Network Access, including VLANs
  • Understand automation and programmability in networking

This course is available to all adults over the age of 18 resident in the Republic of Ireland.

Does the course have prerequisites? 

It is recommended that you have a good grasp of network fundamentals and Cisco equipment before undertaking this course. It is also suggested that you have completed either or both the CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+ courses.

What is the exam like on this course?

The Cisco Certified Network Associate (200-301 CCNA) exam is conducted online and lasts for a total of two hours.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11) or MacOS (the most recent version is Sonoma).

This course uses the Packet Tracer V7 software. You will be given instructions on how to download and install this free software at the beginning of the course.
